So my first army was Tyranids at the tail end of 4th edition and things were good. 5Th edition happened, preferred enemy became insane, and things were GREAT. Then came the 5th edition codex, and things were terrible. 6th edition happened and with it came a new Tyranid codex, and things remained terrible.

I haven't played my bugs since 5th, since I didn't even bother bringing them out for 6th edition. I haven't played since before 7th, and I saw yesterday the the bugs got some gorgeous new units, plus some fancy new zoanthrope models that look sturdy enough to not fall over if you happen to blink at them. Thinking about getting back into the game, especially since the unbound rules allow for the return of the Nidzilla list. Here's my question: is it worth it?

I know we havent gotten a new Tyranid codex, but have the new rules made the army playable again? Or does playing Tyranids still equate to handing your opponent a free massacre?.

Yep, and since those Gargs are Jump Infantry, you can deepstrike the whole blob if you wish. Also, it says two Garg broods but doesn't specify size, so you can tailor the model count anywhere from 20 minimum to 60 maximum. You can have up to 60 ablative wounds for your Tyrant. You read that correctly (assuming he never rolls a 1 on Look Out Sir). Now you actually have a way to get your Tyrant into close combat. What's more, Gargoyles are actually super useful in assault thanks to Blinding Venom.I'm really liking the Leviathan Detachment - 1HQ 3Troops compulsory, reroll Instinctive Behavior, reroll Warlord Trait. And the first 3 Leviathan Warlord Traits are actually pretty fucking useful.Edit:I'm also pretty psyched about the Sporefield formation, that thing is basically bullshit because it allows you to control the table from turn 1. AND you get extra spores out of it on a 4+. Yeebus, that's got potential.

AND it's dirt cheap - 90 points if you go bare minimum.
